A close second to Christmas, Easter is a favorite holiday of mine. Ok, ok ... who am I kidding? I love every holiday, but beyond the fun, there really is something so incredibly special about Easter. It’s a defining day in my faith [&] a beautiful reminder that a fresh new season of redemption and rebirth has come.
I read a quote once that said, “There is nothing in nature that blooms all year long. Don’t expect yourself to either.” Isn’t that a beautiful thought?! I love it because it reminds me that I don’t have to be constantly “blooming” to be full of life and growing. I find relief in knowing that I don’t have to put so much pressure on myself to BE THIS or DO THAT and GO GO GO ... ALL. THE. DANG. TIME. There’s a time and a place for all that, yessss, but there’s also a time for nothing … and in the right context, nothing is EVERYTHING.
I am a huge believer in recognizing [&] living in the reality of each season. I love the metaphorical lessons we learn by simply paying attention to creation. I love the idea that even in the winter season - when things appear to be barren or dead - they are actually healthy [&] thriving [&] preparing to usher in the new. We live in a day in age where the “hustle” is overly glorified and “just being” is reduced to something the lazy [&] unaccomplished do. For someone like me, who loves the hustle, this is a hard revelation to come to terms with, but let me tell you this … OUR CREATOR - who carved out the heavens [&] earth with His pinky finger and with one breath blew humanity into existence - RESTED, and if God took a day to just, “netflix & chill”, you betta believe us mere mortals need to do it too.
Can I encourage you to embrace your season, whatever it looks like? Perhaps you’re in the hustle [&] bustle of BLOOMING right now; work is good! kids are good! life can’t get any better! ... to that I say, YASSSSS, GIRL! gettttt it! enjoy it, don’t question it, don’t play mind games with yourself and sabotage it. Just BLOOM. Or maybe you’re currently experiencing a winter season; and to that, I ALSO say, YASSSSS, GIRL! embrace it! it’s time for you to rest, recalibrate, and refocus! The quiet part of a song is still a part of THE song. Silence [&] bare branches are NOT a sign of death or defeat ... they are the foundation for your redemption and rebirth. Be still, but don’t you get too comfortable, cutie pie, because Easter will come again [&] you WILL bloom!
